I AM GOING TO PERU!

I have the awesome opportunity to go on my first missions trip! Our ministry, REI Ministries, will be joining with a group of 18 other people going to Lima, Peru. We will leave on June 16 and return on the 23rd. I am so excited about this trip!

We will be ministering during the day to children at a local school/orphanage as well as working on several small construction projects to better their facilities. Each night (and all day Sunday) we will be ministering in local congregations around Lima. My dad and the other ministers that are going will be preaching and I will be dancing or doing dramas with some of the other youth. I have already been praying for the people of Peru and for the Lord to give ME opportunities to bless them & tell them of the incredible love of Jesus!

Please pray that the Lord will increase in me a boldness and confidence in talking to the children and the adults. I am learning Spanish and am PRAYING that the Lord will help me, as I step out in FAITH, to be able to communicate and have some understanding as well.

My dad and I are raising our own money for this trip. I have already been working very hard earning money — “double digging” in my aunt’s garden, babysitting and any other jobs available. I have been able to earn some of the $4000 needed for this trip, but we are still considerably short. Having personally seen God provide for our ministry many times, I know that with Him “all things are possible!” If the Lord leads you to be a part of our miracle, we would so appreciate any donation you or your church/organization feel led to send. It also means so much to know that you are praying for us. Any amount you are able to give helps and is such an encouragement!

True Daughters Camp 9/3-6/10

Friday, September 3rd I arrived, with three of my friends, at a YMCA camp ground. We were going to a camp called TRUE Daughters. My old babysitter was one of the counselors, and because of her I was able to go. When we arrived we walked into the cafeteria where they had set up the registration. I told them my name, and they gave me a teal tee-shirt that said TRUE Daughters, and a note-book and pen. After we left the cafeteria we headed down to the cabins. I was in cabin number 3, my friend Rachel Page and my Babysitter Miss Hillary were in cabin number 7, and Rachel Godwin and Katie Best were in cabin number 8. As I walked in I was so nervous! I didn’t know anyone! I started making up my bed and getting things situated. After I had gone to see Rachel, Rachel, and Katie I headed back to my cabin, it was time for all the girls in the cabin to get to know each other. My counselors were Miss Savannah Martin and Miss Torrie Melvin. There was also a helper called a CILT (Counselor In Leadership Training) her name was Leney Breeden. There were 8 bunk beds, 13 girls, 2 counselors, 1 CILT, 2 sinks, 2 toilets, and 2 showers. After we got to know each other we headed to the place we would have the morning, and evening sessions. There were eight rows of chairs, each cabin set together. We all sat down when Ms. Janel Dinley, the lady who put all this together, came up to speak. She welcomed us and introduced us to some people. After she had finished she said a prayer for supper and we filed out and headed to the cafeteria. That night we had pizza! After supper we went back for the night session. Ms. Janel told us about how TRUE Daughters got started and what it stands for. After the night session was over we all headed back to our cabins. After we had gotten ready for bed Miss Savannah gave us a devotional Ms. Janel had put together. After we had done the devotional we all came together to talk about it. After we disused it we all headed to bed, and that was the end of day one.

The next morning breakfast was at 8:00 so I had to get up at 7:30!!! After breakfast was the morning session. Ms. Janel spoke again. After that we headed to electives. There was at total of eight electives, 4 on Saturday and 4 on Sunday. The first four were Dance, Friendship, Bible, and Personality. Once those were finished we headed to lunch. After lunch we went back to the room to get changed for the lake! Cabins 1, 2, 3, and 4 went to the lake and cabins 5, 6, 7, and 8 had land activities. The lake had a HUGE slide, a water trampoline, and an iceberg. After the lake we all headed back to the cabin to get showers and get ready for the night session. Because there were only 2 showers we put 16 pieces of paper, each piece of paper had a different number on it from 1-16, in a bag and each one of us drew out a number, this is the order in which we went. After everyone was ready we headed to supper. After supper we went to the night session. Two ladies spoke that night the first lady’s name was Selah and the second lady was Sarah Grace. After the night session the first four cabins went to the fire pit, and told their there experiences. After that we all did our devotions and went to bed.

The next morning we went to breakfast then to the morning session. This morning did not feel like a Sunday morning. That morning Jennifer Beckham spoke. Next we had our last electives Health and Fitness, TRUE, Worship, and Relationships. Next we had lunch then land activities. The first land activity we had, was a treasure hunt. We ran all over the camp ground! Next land activity was the GIANT rope swing! It was like bungee jumping off of a telephone pole! It was so awesome!! The last land activity that we had, was fun little games with WATER BALLOONS! I had SO much fun! Next we went back to get showers. We just reversed the order that we had done the day before, each day I got a lukewarm shower, but it was worth it! Next we headed to supper, then the night session. Jennifer Beckham spoke again, she was phenomenal!

The next morning we went to breakfast then to the last session. Next we went back to our cabins to pack up. Then we left. My experience was life changing and amazing! I CAN’T wait for next year!

At the ending of September and beginning of October, in 1777, I was in General Gate’s army. We were right between Burgoyne’s army and Albany. On the 7th of October Burgoyne’s army charged. We collided south of Saratoga. We broke up Burgoyne’s army and captured 86 percent of his command. It was a hard and trying battle, but worth it. Because of it France became an ally and has helped with financial and military aids. Because France became an ally so did Spain. After the battle one of the soldiers declared, “It was a glorious sight to see the haughty Britton’s march out and surrender their arms to an army which but a little before they despised and called paltroons.” It was a hard battle, but a glorious one!

Imagine that you were a soldier at the Battle of Saratoga in 1777 and writing an article of your experience for your hometown newspaper. It would be important for you to think about the strategy of the battle, the significant people involved, and the impact on how it changed the course of the war and the colonies. It would also be of great interest to have you write about your feelings of such an experience.

True Daughters Camp 2010

Thanks to Hillary Etheridge I was able to go to True daughters Camp in Greensboro, NC labor day weekend. I had soooo much fun! My counselors were Savannah Martin and Torie Melvin, and my CILT (counselor in leadership training) was Leney Breeden. Check out there website at www.truedaughters.org. I had the most amazing, life chaging time in the world it was the best weekend of my life!!!!! Thank you sooooo much Miss Hillary, Mrs. Janel Dinley ( who put this altogether), Savannah Martin, Torie Melvin, and Leney Breeden.

My Road Trip

My Road Trip

Well, we left on Saturday about 12:45 PM, and left for Washington, D.C. And we hit snow about 9:00 and got to D.C. about 1:00 AM !
The next morning we left for church. And the roads were a little bit icy but we got there safely.

It was a great service.
They had lunch there and they were very nice and thoughtful.
After we left we hit Starbuck’s and I tried my first berry tea. It was nasty.
Well, then we left D.C. about 2:00 and hit some snow.
It was raining when we finally got to Richmond. My cousins Hannah(11), Jack(9), Liberty(4), and Joseph(2) live there.
After we got there it started snowing and snowing and snowing, anyway we ate some sandwiches and went to bed.
The next day we were snowed in and by the end of the day we had my aunt Cheryl’s home made chili and Touchdown Taco Dip it was delicious. After that we went to bed.

The next morning we got up and my Uncle Stephen and my dad went to my Uncle Stephen’s work and worked all day they got back in time for supper we had spaghetti

and salad It was my first time having peppers, red cabbage, and some other things. Anyway, after that we had to pack up and leave and we left for my granddaddy’s and slept there for the night.

The next morning we jumped up and left heading for Wytheville we were 4 hours away.

We got there about 1:00 and had lunch at a Mexican Restaurant and then we went back to the church offices. Then I left with the pastor’s wife, Mrs. Holly, to go pick up her kids. We picked up Maddy(11) and Micah(9).

Micah had a hair cut and then we went back to their house and Maddy got changed for swim practice.

Then we took Maddy to swim practice and went back to the church.

Mrs. Holly dropped me off.

Me and my dad went to our hotel and got some rest before church that night.

Later we got up and got ready for church. My dad spoke and I went with Maddy to her class.

After church was over we went back to their house and had lasagna and salad just plain this time with a little ranch.

We played and played.

Then we went back to the hotel and got good sleep.

The next morning we got up and went back to the church. I got some school work done and then we had to leave. We left for Cleveland, TN.

We got to my nana’s house about 9:30 PM and talked and talked and talked.

But then about 2:00 AM we went to bed.

The next morning my dad went to a class and my nana and I stayed home.

At 11:30 we left for lunch. We ate at Ryan’s and then we went home. Later my dad came and we left for home. It took us about 4 hours because of traffic but it was suppose to take 2 hours. We finally got home safe and sound.
